Sorry, India, you'll have to wait for Cortana in Windows 10!!

If you were hoping to use Cortana, Microsoft's voice-activated digital assisstant in Windows 10 as soon as you upgrade, here's some bad news: you're going to have to wait. Microsoft is updating the software with "strong local content", according to Microsoft India Director (Windows Business Group) Vineet Durani.

Microsoft, which unveiled its much-awaited Windows 10 operating system globally and in-built Cortana today, has held back from launching the Siri rival rival in India.

"Cortana will be made available to Insiders (developers with Microsoft) in the coming weeks and then later to consumers," Durani said.

People can use the virtual assistant to find data, track information, set reminders, etc.

"Cortana is not just an assistant. It understands the context and answers accordingly. It is not just about understanding accents. So, there is a strong localisation that needs to be done," he said.

WHAT IS AMT??? explained

AMT(Automate Manual Transmission)

The concept of an AMT transmission is actually quite simple when one dissects the technology to its bare basics. An AMT is actually a manual transmission with an electromechanical clutch actuator. The biggest advantage and incentive for manufacturers to opt for an AMT gearbox instead of a conventional automatic gearbox is the price advantage they face since the base transmission is actually the same.

AMT gear lever

In a conventional manual gearbox, a set of cables or a link usually operates the gearbox in a two-step process. If the gearbox is cable operated like for example in a Tata Nano, two cables do the process of selection and engagement of the gears. The selection cable is actuated when one moves the gearshift lever from left to right or vice versa. The engagement cable is actuated when one actually shifts into one of the gates to engage a gear. Similarly, a link operated gearbox, like the single-link shifter mechanism found in the old Maruti 800 works on a similar principle. In the case of the 800, the link rotates for the selection process and moves longitudinally to the centreline of the car to engage a gear. Simplifying the shifter process, an Automatic Manual Transmission, or AMT essentially negates these mechanical linkages by replacing them with electromechanical individual devices that work off the engine management and transmission management control units.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Engine

The electronically controlled clutch actuator uses an electric motor to operate the clutch instead of a conventional pedal and cable operated setup. In the clutch actuator, the rotary movement of the electric motor is transferred via a set of gears to a linear movement that is needed to engage and disengage the clutch via the pressure plate. The clutch is operated via a release lever and bearing which then helps to engage or disengage the gears in the transmission. ZF Sachs, the pioneers of the AMT gearbox claim that this setup not only simulates clutch-less driving for the driver, but also increases the life of the clutch components while cutting down on emissions and increases fuel economy.

Tata Zest with AMT

In an AMT, the electromechanical or sometimes hydraulically operated actuators take over the clutch and shift action, but do not take away driving pleasure. This is predominantly due to the fact that the driver can still choose to manually engage a particular gear through either a shifter lever or a steering mounted paddle shifter. With their optimised shift points, AMTs also help reduce torque interruption to a minimum between shifts. As an array of sensors register and convey all key information through a transmission control module, the system can automatically adjust shift points and control the clutch according to driver based input. The AMT’s ECU can also intervene to improve safety by automatically interrupting drive flow to counter the risk of skidding if the vehicle loses traction.

Apart from giving the driver the pleasure of driving an automatic car, the AMT system was essentially developed to automate manual transmissions in vehicles that cannot have a conventional automatic transmission. The AMT can also help in cars where a conventional automatic transmission or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is difficult to install due to cost, weight or installation space constraints.

Dual OTG Pen drive : Smart way to increase phone memory!!

Dual OTG Pen Drive :

Nowadays Smartphone become an essential gadget for everyone, either you are a student, businessman, employee in any company or even homemaker. By increasing number of apps  smartphone now using a huge amount of memory to handle app data, email attachments, photo, media etc. By some extent one can survive with low internal memory if the phone or tablet has micro sd card slot. But if you have a phone that is lack of sd card slot than you must require some other mean of storage like pendrive that can be attached using USB-On the Go cables (OTG). But there is a drawback that you have to carry always two things in your pocket one is otg cable and other is USB pendrive.

Now solution of this is coming by USB drive manufacturers as Dual mode USB OTG pen drives , where you can use same pen drive in your smartphone and computer without using otg cable. These pendrives have dual ports to connect one side with  smartphone (using micro usb connector) and other side to computer as normal USB connector.

Dual OTG Pen drive also now coming with USB 3.0 connectivity for faster data transfer, and also have many storage options 8GB/16GB/32GB etc. Now micro usb port has become standard in many devices like smartphones, tablets, E-book readers so you can use same Dual OTG Pen drive in many devices.

e-SIM Going Replace The Traditional SIM card(Plan by Apple and Samsung)

e-SIM

Apple and Samsung are planning to replace the traditional sim card to an e-sim.For that , they are currently in talks with the GSM Association (GSMA) to completely eradicate the physical SIM cards that we currently need to use with mobile phones.
Currently,if you want to change from one mobile operator to another, such as if you fly to another country and don't want to use roaming, you have to physically remove the SIM card, keep it safe and insert a new one from another mobile operator
By the introduction of e-SIM,a new SIM, that is embedded directly within the device which can then be reprogrammed immediately to work with mobile operators around the world that support the standard can be rolled out.

Micromax canvas silver 5 first glance Review!! and Specs!

Micromax continues to focus on the 4G smartphones with the launch of a new flagship device, the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5. The phone will be available from the first week of July, and will be priced at Rs. 17,999, available via retail and online.

Launched in Delhi on Thursday, the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is - according to Micromax - the slimmest phone on the market with a total end-to-end width of 5.1mm. Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja agrees that there are other phones in the market that are slimmer, but says that they have bumps and bulges along their bodies, which means they are thicker than the Sliver 5 at some points.

Design

The Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 has a 4.8-inch screen, and is 5.1mm thick. Most of the front face is taken up by the screen, with the sides in particular having only narrow bezels. The "chin" of the phone is more pronounced, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The phone is available in both black, and white-and-gold variants. We looked at the latter one for our hands on, though the black one was also available on stage; the black one looks a little sleeker somehow, but at first glance, both colours look nice.

The phone is definitely narrow, and coupled with the screen-size, the result is a phone that feels like it could've easily been a little shorter. It's not too uncomfortable to hold - there are no sharp edges and the phone is narrow enough that our hand curled naturally around the body.

The 3.5mm jack and the USB port lie at the bottom edge of the phone, and really drive home how sleek the phone is - the earphone jack takes up most of the bottom. The power and volume buttons are on the left and right sides, respectively, while the rear camera is indeed flush with the body of the phone, with just a slightly raised ring around it to keep it from damage.

specifications

Aside from the 5.1mm thickness, the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is also notable for its 97 gram weight. Other than that though, the phone is fairly standard; the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 supports a single SIM card (Nano-SIM) and features a 4.8-inch (720x1280 pixels) HD Amoled display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2GB of DDR3 RAM. The Canvas Sliver 5 comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, but doesn't feature expandable storage support.

The Canvas Sliver 5 sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with Sony IMX219 CMOS sensor with a 'blue glass filter' and LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on board as well. The Canvas Sliver 5 is backed by a 2000mAh battery, which Taneja claims will be enough for most people to use the phone for a full day.

Our very limited experiments with the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5's camera show that it's not bad, taking photos in the really bad lighting of the launch venue without too much noise in the image, and pulling up relatively sharp images. It's important to remember that a few quick clicks in very uncertain lighting using a phone that's tethered to a stand makes it hard to judge, but the camera seems to be fair, at any rate.
Aside from the design, the most compelling facet of the phone might actually be the after sales service that Micromax is promising. Taneja says that much like the Micromax Canvas Knight 2 the Sliver 5 will also benefit from "M! On-Site Care". This means that customers who face any problems can visit Micromax's website and get a doorstep pickup of the phone, along with a guarantee of either repairs or a replacement within a week.

Final thoughts

A quick look at the UI showed nothing particularly out of the ordinary. The camera application includes a professional mode though, which promises to give users lots of control for difficult lighting situations. Using the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 to type a message was comfortable, and the phone is really light - the 97 gram weight means that you are unlikely to feel it in your pocket.
Sure, this phone is half as thick as many others out there; but that doesn't really change the fact that it has only 16GB of total storage, with no option to use a microSD card. Micromax chose to sacrifice the microSD slot and dual-SIM functionality (both features which are quite popular in India) to make the phone slimmer; that might be a misstep, particularly when you consider the relatively high price of the phone.
